Club de Leones de Panamá
Lions have served Panama since 1935. Clubs across the country are collecting water, food and hygiene kits, for local Lions to hand directly to families in Azuero and Veraguas.

The earthquake response
Collecting aid and taking it to Azuero
On 10 and 11 October, Lions clubs in Panamá, Colón and part of Panamá Oeste opened a collection centre at the Chanis Lions Club in Panama City, with the backing of District Governor Wilfredo Hurtado.
- Collect
Bottled water, dry food, clothes and shoes, hygiene items and cleaning products, gathered at the Chanis club.
- Transport
A truck takes the donations to the affected areas from 12 to 13 October, stopping in Panamá Oeste to collect more from other clubs.
- Hand delivery
Organisers work with the Lions clubs of Azuero and Veraguas to hand the supplies directly to families.

How Lions fund disaster relief
Local clubs first, backed by a global foundation
Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) gives grants to Lions districts after disasters. In July and August 2026 alone it awarded 96 disaster grants worth US$2,370,133 worldwide.
Emergency grants
For Lion-led relief in the days and weeks after a disaster, such as food, water and supplies.
Preparedness grants
For districts working with local authorities to prepare for future disasters.
Major catastrophe grants
For long-term rebuilding after large-scale disasters, decided by the foundation's leadership.
Our transfers go to the club in Panama, not to LCIF, so they reach local relief without waiting for a grant.
Half of every donation goes to Club de Leones de Panamá
We send everything raised, less card fees, 50/50 to Cruz Roja Panameña and Club de Leones de Panamá, at least every 14 days, and publish each transfer with its receipt. Before the first transfer, we independently check the club's bank account.
